BIOLISSE® Pentylene Glycol - Multifunctional ingredient with preservative properties

BIOLISSE® Pentylene Glycol is based on the chemical compound 1,2-pentanediol, a member of the alkanediol family, which occurs in two isomeric forms. This structure gives pentylene glycol its exceptional properties, which make it an indispensable ingredient in modern skin care. In addition to its function as a moisturizer and active ingredient booster, it has a proven preservative effect from a concentration of 5 %.

Preservative effect from 5 %

1,2-pentanediol, the chemical basis of pentylene glycol, exhibits a strong antimicrobial effect from an application concentration of 5 %. This effect effectively inhibits the growth of bacteria, yeasts and moulds, thereby stabilizing cosmetic formulations and protecting them from microbial contamination.
