Japanese Knotweed (INCI: Polygonum Cuspidatum) is one of the most significant plant-based sources of trans-resveratrol. Resveratrol as the Central Marker Compound The documented resveratrol content in the product is indicatively 7 to 45 mg/g (trans-resveratrol). This is based on a drug concentration of 0.1 to 0.5 % (literature basis: Burns et al. 2002), which is enriched in the powder extract through a concentration factor of 10:1 and an extraction yield of 70 to 90 %. At a use level of 2 %, the extract delivers 0.14 to 0.90 mg/g resveratrol in the finished formulation. This range allows for transparent calculation of the marker content within a formulation. Additional Documented Compounds In addition to resveratrol, the extract contains further documented accompanying substances. In the crude drug, polydatin (resveratrol glucoside) at 1 to 4 % and emodin (anthraquinone) at 0.5 to 2 % are documented. The CONIUNCTA® Nettle Extract (INCI: Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract) is a botanical liquid extract from Urtica dioica. Chlorogenic acid serves as the lead marker with an indicative range of 122 to 630 µg/mL in the product. The extract is available in three carrier variants (Glycerin, Propylene Glycol and Pentylene Glycol), making it compatible with a variety of cosmetic and food-grade formulation environments. For formulators, the product is a versatile botanical building block with a documented antioxidative profile. This is a product of conventional quality. Chlorogenic Acid as Analytical Lead Marker The characterisation centres on chlorogenic acid, whose indicative content in the product ranges from 122 to 630 µg/mL. At a use concentration of 2 %, the extract delivers a calculated 2.4 to 12.6 µg/mL chlorogenic acid in the finished formulation; at a food application level of 1.3 %, this corresponds to 1.5 to 7.9 µg/mL. These figures enable a traceable link between the amount used and the marker content in the final product. In addition to the primary marker, the CDS documents further confirmed compounds: Scopoletin at 0.02 to 0.08 % (relative to the dry plant) and beta-Sitosterol at 0.1 to 0.5 % (in the root). Devil's Claw Extract (Harpagophytum Procumbens Root Extract): Harpagoside as a Lead Marker for Antioxidant Formulations

Devil's Claw Extract (INCI: Harpagophytum Procumbens Root Extract) is obtained from the root of Harpagophytum procumbens and is available to formulators in three carrier variants: Glycerin, Propylene Glycol and Pentylene Glycol. The extract content is approximately 30% across all variants. As a plant-based, vegan raw material, the extract is suitable for cosmetic applications under EC No. 1223/2009 as well as, in the Glycerin variant, for functional food applications. This article summarises the markers documented in the data sheet, the efficacy profile and the technical parameters for formulation development. Harpagoside: the characteristic iridoid glycoside lead marker The lead marker of the extract is harpagoside, an iridoid glycoside. The product specifies an indicative content of 122 to 945 µg/mL. At a use concentration of 2%, this results in a calculated 2.4 to 18.9 µg/mL harpagoside in the finished formulation. For food and beverage applications, a dosage of 1.3% yields 1.5 to 11.8 µg/mL accordingly. In addition to harpagoside, further characteristic compounds of the drug have been identified: procumbide (0.1 to 0.3%) and harpagide (0.5 to 1%). These markers allow analytical characterisation of the root extract and support specification testing during incoming goods inspection.
