Acai Powder Extract 10:1 (Euterpe Oleracea): Cyanidin-3-Glucoside as Anthocyanin-Rich Lead Marker
The Acai Powder Extract 10:1 from CONIUNCTA® (INCI: Euterpe Oleracea, specified in the TDS as Euterpe Oleracea Fruit Extract) is derived from the fruit of the acai palm. As a powder raw material with an extract ratio of 10:1, it is aimed at formulators in the cosmetic and food industries who wish to incorporate an anthocyanin-rich dry extract with a defined lead marker into their formulations. The focus is on cyanidin-3-glucoside, which is documented as the primary marker in the CDS. Anthocyanins: Cyanidin-3-Glucoside at the Center The lead marker of the extract is cyanidin-3-glucoside with an indicative content of 3.5 to 27 mg/g in the extract (literature content dry plant 0.05 to 0.3%, Schauss et al. 2006). This anthocyanin-based marker defines the phytochemical profile and serves as the reference value for standardization in the data sheet. At a usage level of 2%, the extract provides a calculated 0.07 to 0.54 mg of cyanidin-3-glucoside per gram of formulation, making the marker content transparently controllable via the application concentration. Additional Documented Compounds In addition to the lead marker, the CDS lists two further groups of compounds: the flavones orientin and homoorientin (0.1 to 0.5% of the dry plant) as well as vanillic acid (0.1 to 0.3% of the dry plant). These compounds complement the profile of the acai fruit extract and contribute to its characteristic phytochemical spectrum. All markers mentioned here are derived exclusively from the data sheet; further standardizations are not indicated. Documented Activity Profile for Cosmetic Formulations Based on the phytochemical profile and published literature, the CDS describes antioxidant protection as well as ROS scavenging. Collagenase inhibition and capillary protection are also listed in the data sheet. As targets in the cosmetic context, the CDS names oxidative stress (ROS), skin aging, and capillary protection. These properties position the acai extract within antioxidant-oriented care concepts. The keywords stored in the Shopify meta field serve only as a rough thematic orientation and are not to be understood as substantiated efficacy claims. Powder Form, Specification, and Processing The raw material is present as a brown powder with a characteristic color, odor, and taste. Particle size is specified as ≥ 95% through 80 mesh, and bulk density falls in the range of 0.50 to 0.70. Maltodextrin (1 to 20%) serves as the carrier; extraction is carried out with ethanol and water. Loss on drying and total ash are each specified at ≤ 5.0%. From a safety perspective, the extract is not classified as a hazardous substance in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 and is considered a non-combustible solid under TRGS 510 (storage class 13). Please note that color changes during storage cannot be ruled out depending on temperature conditions. Use in Cosmetics and Functional Food According to the product specifications, the acai powder extract is suitable for all variants in cosmetics and food. For cosmetic applications, the CDS recommends 1 to 3% (general recommendation 2 to 5%); for functional food and beverages, 0.5 to 2%. In the food sector, the data sheet lists metabolic health and the reduction of oxidative stress as targets. Specific formulation and dosage questions are addressed individually by our technical team based on your application.
