FAQ
FAQ
Please read our FAQ.
Pale coneflower extract is an aqueous plant extract from the pale coneflower (Echinacea pallida). The raw material carries the INCI name Echinacea Pallida Extract (CAS 97281-15-7) and is characterized by the marker Cichoric acid. It contains alkylamides, polysaccharides and echinacosides. Compared with purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea), Echinacea pallida shows a higher echinacoside profile.
Production
The extract is manufactured in Germany (Made in Germany) and obtained by Adaptive Vacuum Extraction (AVE). It is available in three carrier variants: glycerin, propylene glycol and pentylene glycol. The extract content is around 30 % across all variants. One kilogram of extract contains the hydrophilic components of about 35 g of dried or around 220 g of fresh plant material. Preservation is glycol-based.

Use in cosmetics
The typical use concentration is 2 to 5 %. The aqueous extract is free of essential oils and therefore free of declarable fragrance allergens. The raw material is used in formulations for sensitive skin, in after-sun products and in serums. Its good water solubility allows processing in water-based systems.
Use in food
The raw material is also declared for the food industry. The glycerin variant is intended for food applications. The ingredient declaration under the EU Food Information Regulation is: Glycerin or (Water, Propylene Glycol or Pentylene Glycol).
Frequently asked questions
How does Echinacea pallida differ from Echinacea purpurea?
Echinacea pallida (pale coneflower) differs chemically from purple coneflower (Echinacea purpurea) through a higher echinacoside profile. The extract also contains alkylamides and polysaccharides.
Is pale coneflower extract water-soluble?
Yes. It is an aqueous extract that is readily soluble in water and suitable for water-based formulations.
Which carrier variants are available?
The extract is available with glycerin, propylene glycol or pentylene glycol as the carrier. Preservation is glycol-based.
At what concentration is the extract used?
The typical use concentration in cosmetic formulations is 2 to 5 %.
Is the raw material vegan and which documents are available?
The extract is vegan. A technical data sheet (TDS) and safety data sheet (SDS) are available. Certificate of analysis (CoA) and B2B terms after login.
