FAQ
FAQ
Please read our FAQ.
Gentian powder extract is a water-soluble dry extract from the root of the yellow gentian (Gentiana lutea). As a gentian extract with the key marker gentiopicroside, it carries the INCI name Gentiana Lutea Root Extract and is supplied at a 10:1 concentration ratio.
Production
The raw material is obtained as a fine powder at a 10:1 ratio from the gentian root and delivered unpreserved. Product development takes place in Germany (Designed in Germany). Characteristic are the iridoid bitter compounds amarogentin and gentiopicroside, which shape the intense organoleptic profile with a bitterness value above 10,000.

Use in cosmetics
For cosmetic formulations, a use concentration of 2 to 5% is documented, suitable for all cosmetic variants. Thanks to its good water solubility, the gentian extract is incorporated into the aqueous phase. Its astringent properties are used, for example in facial toners, tonics and after-shave products for blemished skin. The intense bitterness rules out lip care applications.
Use in food
As a raw material for the food industry, gentian powder extract is suitable for all variants. Technically, it serves as a bittering component, for example in bitter spirits and liqueurs. The water-soluble extract can be dosed directly into aqueous preparations.
