Goose cinquefoil extract (Potentilla Anserina Extract) - tannin-containing antispasmodic traditional raw material
INCI: Potentilla Anserina Extract. Goosefoot cinquefoil extract (Potentilla anserina) contains tannins (ellagitannins), flavonoids and coumarins. It is characterized by its antispasmodic effect on menstrual cramps.
Use in the cosmetics industry
The aqueous extract is free from essential oils and therefore free from declarable fragrance allergens. In the cosmetics industry, goosefoot extract is used for astringent skin care, oral care and soothing formulations. The tannins support tissue firming. Typical applications include mouthwash, facial toner and after-shave.
Use in the food industry
In the phytotherapeutic field, cinquefoil is traditionally used for menstrual cramps and diarrhea. The spasmolytic effect is documented. The European folk medicine tradition is confirmed. Regulatory status: food, food supplement.
