FAQ
FAQ
Please read our FAQ.
Paracress oil extract (INCI: Acmella Oleracea Extract) is the lipophilic extract form of paracress (Acmella oleracea). The lead marker is spilanthol. The extract is available in three carrier oils: jojoba oil, squalane or sunflower oil. This allows spilanthol to be incorporated directly into the oil phase of cosmetic formulations.
Production
CONIUNCTA produces paracress oil extract using AVE technology (Adaptive Vacuum Extraction), made in Germany. The extract content is around 30% regardless of the carrier variant. 1 kg of extract contains the lipophilic constituents of around 35 g of dried or around 220 g of fresh plant material. The raw material comes from Europe and the rest of the world, with certified organic material preferred.

Application in cosmetics
The recommended use level is 2 to 5%. The lipophilic form integrates into emulsions as well as anhydrous oil products. Typical formulations include rich anti-aging care, facial oils, eye creams, eye serums and night care. For cosmetic claims such as wrinkle-reducing or muscle-relaxing, CONIUNCTA provides a Claim Data Sheet (CDS). All three carrier variants are suitable for cosmetic use.
Application in food
In the EU, paracress is classified as a novel food under Regulation (EU) 2015/2283. An authorisation for food use is currently not in place. The extract is therefore offered exclusively as a cosmetic raw material.
Frequently asked questions
What is paracress oil?
Paracress oil extract is a lipophilic plant extract from Acmella oleracea in a carrier oil. The lead marker spilanthol is introduced into cosmetic formulations via the oil matrix. The extract is vegan.
Which carrier oils is the extract available in?
In three variants: jojoba oil, squalane or sunflower oil. A separate Technical Data Sheet (TDS) is available for each variant, while the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) covers all three variants.
What is the recommended use level?
The recommended use level is 2 to 5%. The extract dissolves readily in oil and is incorporated into the formulation via the oil phase.
How should paracress oil extract be stored?
Dry, between 10 and 30 °C, in the original sealed container. Stored this way, the shelf life is 24 months. Colour changes may occur during storage. If turbidity or precipitation occurs, simple filtration is sufficient and the quality remains unaffected.
Where can I buy paracress oil extract?
Directly here in the CONIUNCTA online shop. Delivery time is 7 to 14 days. Prices and volume tiers are visible after login, B2B terms on request. TDS, SDS and CDS are available for download on the product page.
