Rosemary Extract (INCI: Rosmarinus Officinalis Extract, CAS 84604-14-8) is a botanical extract obtained by aqueous extraction from Rosmarinus officinalis for the cosmetics and food industries. The extract contains rosmarinic acid, carnosolic acid and flavonoids. These water-soluble polyphenols shape the antioxidant profile of the raw material.
Production
CONIUNCTA produces the rosemary extract in Germany (Made in Germany) using AVE technology (Adaptive Vacuum Extraction). The aqueous extraction yields an extract without essential oils, which eliminates declarable fragrance allergens. The extract content is approx. 30%: 1 kg of extract contains the hydrophilic or lipophilic constituents of approx. 35 g of dried or approx. 220 g of fresh plant parts. Three carrier variants are available: glycerin, propylene glycol and pentylene glycol.

Application in food
The glycerin carrier variant is intended for food applications. In the food sector, rosemary is established as a spice and natural antioxidant (E 392). Its use to delay oxidation in fats is documented.
