The Black Tea Powder Extract 10:1 (INCI: Camellia Sinensis) is a concentrated powder raw material derived from the tea plant, aimed at formulators in the cosmetic and food industries. As a powder form with a density of 0.50 to 0.70, the extract can be incorporated into both dry systems and aqueous preparations. The focus is on a clearly documented phytochemical profile featuring EGCG, caffeine, and total polyphenols, which forms the basis for antioxidant applications.

EGCG as the Key Marker of the Black Tea Powder

The primary marker of the extract is EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate), a representative of the catechins from the class of flavan-3-ols. In the product, EGCG is present at an indicative concentration of 210 to 350 mg/g. This concentration makes the Black Tea Powder Extract a purposefully deployable carrier of a defined catechin profile that can be traced in incoming quality control and specification.

In addition to EGCG, further compounds have been identified: caffeine in a range of 2 to 5 percent and total polyphenols of 15 to 30 percent. This combination characterises the 10:1 powder as a polyphenol-rich raw material with an additional caffeine component.

The data sheet names the following application targets: in the cosmetic context ROS, the Nrf2/ARE signalling pathway and MMPs; in the food sector ROS scavenging, inhibition of LDL oxidation and endothelial function.

As a regulatory reference point in the food sector, the data sheet cites an EFSA reference value of 300 to 800 mg polyphenols per day from tea. The marketing keywords "antioxidant" and "invigorating" serve solely as thematic orientation; substantiated claims are based exclusively on the CDS.

Use Concentrations and Product Form

For cosmetic applications, the data sheet recommends a use level of 1 to 3 percent, with a generally recommended use level of 2 to 5 percent. In the food sector, for example for functional beverages and supplements, 1 to 3 percent is documented. The colour of the powder ranges from golden yellow to light brown; colour changes due to storage conditions or temperature are possible and do not affect the specification.

Safety, Storage and Documentation

According to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, the Black Tea Powder Extract is not a hazardous substance and carries no hazard pictogram and no signal word. Transport is not subject to dangerous goods regulations (ADR/RID, IMDG, IATA). The safety data sheet complies with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH); no PBT/vPvB status and no endocrine-disrupting properties have been identified. Storage conditions: keep container tightly closed, storage temperature 15 to 25 degrees C, storage class 13 (non-combustible solids). In the original sealed container under dry storage conditions between 10 and 30 degrees C, the shelf life is 24 months.

Black Orchid Extract (Cycnoches Cooperi Extract): Glucomannan Polysaccharides for Moisture-Promoting Skincare

Black Orchid Extract, with the INCI name Cycnoches Cooperi Extract, is a botanical extract derived from the orchid Cycnoches cooperi, intended exclusively for cosmetic formulations. CONIUNCTA® offers it as a liquid extract in three carrier variants: standardised in glycerin, in an Aqua/Propylene Glycol system, and in an Aqua/Pentylene Glycol system. As a conventional quality, the extract is aimed at formulators who wish to combine moisture-promoting and conditioning activity profiles with an exclusive orchid raw material. Cycnoches cooperi: an orchid as a cosmetic raw material The Black Orchid Cycnoches cooperi provides the source matrix for this extract. CONIUNCTA® uses a water-based extraction process to obtain the extract fraction, which is then transferred into the respective standardisation medium. The extract is of plant origin and suitable for vegan formulations. It can therefore be incorporated into concepts where a botanical character and a clear raw material origin are paramount. Glucomannan and other documented compounds The documented active constituents are centred on polysaccharides, in particular glucomannan. The CONIUNCTA® data sheet states an indicative content of 3.7 to 11 mg/mL; the literature content in the dried drug is given in the data sheet as 15 to 35 percent. In addition, phenanthrenes at levels of 0.01 to 0.1 percent have been described in several related orchid species. This polysaccharide fraction forms the analytical basis for the moisture-related properties of the extract. Documented activity profile for skincare The CDS lists several cosmetically relevant properties for Black Orchid Extract: moisturising, moisture-promoting, conditioning, astringent, balancing, elasticity support, and anti-ageing. The extract is therefore well suited to formulations aimed at moisture-focused and smoothing care. All statements refer to cosmetic applications in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. Three carrier variants for different systems The glycerin variant contains approx. 70 percent glycerin and approx. 30 percent extract fraction, and requires no glycol co-solvent. The Propylene Glycol variant is formulated as an Aqua/Propylene Glycol blend, and the Pentylene Glycol variant as an Aqua/Pentylene Glycol system (approx. 50 percent water, approx. 30 percent extract, approx. 20 percent Pentylene Glycol). Regardless of variant, the extract content is around 30 percent. This allows the most suitable carrier base to be matched to the existing formulation system. Specifications, usage and handling The extract appears as a clear to amber-coloured liquid (amber to light brown) with a density of 1.03 to 1.06. The recommended use concentration stated in the shop is 0.5 to 3 percent; the product-specific TDS specifies a range of 2 to 5 percent. Shelf life is 24 months when stored dry between 10 and 30 °C in the original sealed container. According to the SDS, the product is not classified as a hazardous substance under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. The extract is free from fragrance allergens subject to declaration under Annex III of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 and is intended exclusively for the cosmetics industry, not for food use. Note: Depending on storage temperature, colour changes or turbidity may occur; filtration is possible in such cases and does not affect quality. BIOLISSE® Squalane (Squalane): Pure Olive-Derived Hydrocarbon for Barrier-Strengthening Formulations

BIOLISSE® Squalane (INCI: Squalane) is a defined pure substance for the cosmetics industry: a colourless, transparent, oily and odourless liquid consisting of 100% Squalane. Unlike a classical botanical extract, this product contains no carrier system and no solvent; it is present undiluted as a pure hydrocarbon. For formulators, this represents a well-plannable, sensorially neutral lipophilic building block. This article summarises the facts regarding origin, properties and use as documented in the dossier (TDS/SDS/CDS). Squalane (C30H62): A Defined Pure Substance Rather Than an Extract Mixture The primary marker and sole constituent is Squalane (C30H62), with a purity of 100% as documented in the CDS. According to the data sheet, no further compounds are present: this is a defined pure substance, not a botanical extract mixture. This single-substance nature provides formulators with a reproducible, clearly characterised component free of any variable accompanying matrix. As a hydrocarbon, Squalane has no applicable pH value. The density is 0.81 g/mL at 25 °C (specification range 0.804 to 0.835). Squalane is insoluble in water and miscible with organic solvents, mineral oil and vegetable oils. Origin from the Olive (Olea europaea) According to the TDS, the botanical origin is the olive (Olea europaea). BIOLISSE® Squalane is obtained by hydrogenation of squalene derived from olive oil. The product is documented as suitable for vegan formulations. Please note: BIOLISSE® Squalane is a conventional product and does not carry organic certification. Documented Activity Profile The CDS lists the following effects for Squalane verbatim: balancing, moisture-promoting, moisturising, barrier-strengthening, conditioning, skin-plumping and pro-age. Use Concentration and Sensory Behaviour The CDS documents a use concentration of 1 to 10%; the TDS indicates a technical range of 1.0 to 100%. Since Squalane is odourless and sensorially unobtrusive, it is well suited as a lipophilic component without masking the inherent character of a formulation. Storage, Safety and Regulatory Status According to the SDS, BIOLISSE® Squalane is not a hazardous substance and is not classified as dangerous goods; it carries no hazard pictogram and no signal word. The substance is classified as a flammable liquid (flash point 218 °C, storage class TRGS 510: 10) and is compliant with REACH Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006. Storage at 15 to 25 °C is recommended, tightly closed, protected from light and moisture, and kept away from strong oxidising agents and direct sunlight. The shelf life in the unopened original container is 36 months according to the TDS. Clove Powder Extract (Eugenia Caryophyllus): Eugenol as Lead Marker in the 10:1 Powder

With the Clove Powder Extract 10:1 (INCI: Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Extract), CONIUNCTA® provides a powdered plant extract whose characteristic profile is defined by the phenylpropanoid compound eugenol. The product is available as a brown powder with a particle size of 80 mesh and is suitable for both cosmetic formulations and applications in the food and functional food sector. For formulators, the solid, easily dosable powder form is of interest when a water-based or lipophilic carrier solution is not required or when powder-based processing is preferred. Eugenol as the Defining Marker The primary marker of the extract is eugenol, a phenylpropanoid that, according to the CDS, is indicatively present at 50 to 350 mg/g in the product. Eugenyl acetate (1 to 3 %) and beta-caryophyllene (1 to 3 %) are documented as accompanying verified compounds. This combination of substances shapes the characteristic analytical profile of the clove extract and forms the basis for the regulatory-registered functions. For cosmetic applications, eugenol is registered with the functions "Antioxidant, UV-absorbing, skin conditioning". In the food context, eugenol is documented as a "Nutritional antioxidant, traditional dietary ingredient". The CDS lists targets including ROS scavenging, inhibition of tyrosinase, as well as metabolic aspects and the reduction of oxidative stress. Botanical Origin and Manufacturing The starting material is Eugenia Caryophyllus of Chinese origin; according to the TDS, the whole plant is processed. The extract is obtained using ethanol and water as solvents and concentrated at a ratio of 10:1. Maltodextrin serves as the carrier in the powder matrix at a proportion of 1 to 20 %, resulting in a composition of 80 to 99 % clove extract to 1 to 20 % maltodextrin. The powder appears brown with a characteristic odour and taste; at least 95 % passes through an 80-mesh sieve. The colour specification stated in the shop ranges from golden yellow to light brown, whereby colour changes depending on storage conditions and temperature cannot be excluded. Application Concentration in Cosmetics and Food For cosmetic formulations, the CDS recommends an application rate of 1 to 3 % (general recommendation 2 to 5 %). At a 2 % extract usage rate, the product delivers a calculated 1.0 to 7.0 mg/g eugenol in the formulation. For functional food and beverages, the CDS specifies an application rate of 0.5 to 2 %; at 1.3 % extract usage, this results in 0.63 to 4.4 mg/g eugenol in the finished formula. Suitability for the respective application must be verified as part of the customer's own product development. Processing, Safety and Storage According to the SDS, the clove powder extract is not classified as a hazardous substance (Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008) and is not subject to labelling requirements. No PBT/vPvB constituents and no endocrine-disrupting components at relevant concentrations are present; the product is not a UN dangerous good. During handling, vapours and aerosols must not be inhaled; eye protection in accordance with EN 166 is required, and respiratory protection is only necessary in the event of aerosol formation. The storage class according to TRGS 510 is 13 (non-combustible solids). When stored dry, cool and in a tightly sealed container between 10 and 30 °C (SDS: 15 to 25 °C) in the original sealed container, the shelf life is 24 months.
