FAQ
FAQ
Please read our FAQ.
Apricot Extract (INCI: Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit Extract) is an aqueous fruit extract from the apricot (Prunus armeniaca) for the cosmetics and food industries. Its lead marker is chlorogenic acid, accompanied by polyphenols and organic acids. The extract is free of essential oils and therefore free of declarable fragrance allergens.
Production
CONIUNCTA produces the apricot extract with AVE technology (Adaptive Vacuum Extraction), Made in Germany. The extract content is approx. 30 % regardless of the carrier variant. 1 kg of extract contains the hydrophilic or lipophilic constituents of approx. 35 g of dried or approx. 220 g of fresh plant material.
Three carrier variants are available: glycerin, propylene glycol or pentylene glycol, each in combination with water. Preservation is glycol-based via the carrier system.

Use in cosmetics
The use level is 2 to 5 %. All three carrier variants are suitable for cosmetic formulations (Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009). The extract is used in formulations with an antioxidant and skin-conditioning focus. Typical applications include face creams, body lotions, lip products and hair care. The extract's inherent colour is visible in the formulation depending on the dosage. TDS and SDS are available for each carrier variant, further documents after login.
Use in food
For food applications, the glycerin carrier variant is intended. Regulatory status: food and food supplements. The carrier ingredient is declared in accordance with Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 (glycerin). The use of apricot in jams, compotes and baked goods is documented.
Frequently asked questions
What is Prunus Armeniaca Fruit Extract?
Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Fruit Extract is the INCI name for apricot fruit extract. The CONIUNCTA extract contains chlorogenic acid, polyphenols and organic acids and is supplied as a liquid raw material for the cosmetics and food industries.
At what concentration is apricot extract used?
The recommended use level is 2 to 5 %, depending on the formulation type and the desired inherent colour.
Is apricot extract water-soluble?
Yes. The extract is readily soluble in water and comes as a clear liquid, occasionally with slight turbidity. If turbidity or precipitation occurs during storage, filtration is sufficient. The quality remains unaffected.
Which carrier variant is suitable for food?
The glycerin variant is suitable for food. In cosmetics, all three variants can be used: glycerin, propylene glycol or pentylene glycol.
How is apricot extract stored?
Dry, between 10 and 30 °C, in the original sealed container. The shelf life is 24 months. A temperature-dependent colour change during storage is possible and has no effect on quality.
Primary Marker: Chlorogenic acid
