INCI: Crocus Sativus Flower (Saffron) Extract, CAS 84604-17-1. CONIUNCTA® PRO CPG-12 Saffron Extract is a liquid extract from the stigmas of the saffron crocus (Crocus sativus), standardized to the lead markers crocin and safranal. The crocin carotenoids shape the antioxidant profile of this raw material, which is designed for the cosmetics and food industries.
Production
The saffron extract is produced using AVE technology (Adaptive Vacuum Extraction), Made in Germany. Available carriers are glycerin or water with propylene glycol or pentylene glycol. Regardless of the variant, the extract content is approx. 30%: 1 kg of extract contains the hydrophilic or lipophilic constituents of approx. 35 g of dried or approx. 220 g of fresh plant parts. Preservation is glycol-based. The extract is free from essential oils and therefore free from declarable fragrance allergens.

CONIUNCTA® PRO CPG-12 is not an alcoholic tincture but a liquid extract based on glycerin or water with propylene glycol or pentylene glycol. It is readily water-soluble and designed as a raw material for cosmetics and food.
Is the saffron extract water-soluble?
Yes. The extract is readily soluble in water and comes as a clear liquid, occasionally with slight turbidity. This makes it easy to incorporate into aqueous formulations.
Which variant is suitable for food?
The glycerin variant is intended for food. In cosmetics, all variants can be used.
How is the extract stored and what is its shelf life?
Stored dry between 10 and 30 °C in the original sealed container, the shelf life is 24 months. A color change during storage is possible. If turbidity or precipitation occurs, filtration is sufficient and the quality remains unaffected.
