FAQ
Please read our FAQ.
Eyebright Extract is a botanical liquid extract from Euphrasia officinalis (eyebright). The INCI name of the raw material is Euphrasia Officinalis Extract. Characteristic constituents are iridoid glycosides with the lead marker aucubin as well as tannins and flavonoids.
Production
CONIUNCTA produces Eyebright Extract using Adaptive Vacuum Extraction (AVE), a gentle process carried out at the production site in Germany (Made in Germany). The extract is available in three carrier variants: glycerin, propylene glycol or pentylene glycol, each on an aqueous basis. Regardless of the variant, the extract content is around 30%. One kilogram of extract contains the hydrophilic constituents of around 35 g of dried or around 220 g of fresh plant material. Preservation is glycol based.
Specification
- INCI: Euphrasia Officinalis Extract
- Appearance: clear liquid, occasionally slight turbidity
- Color: amber to light brown

Use in cosmetics
The typical use concentration is 2 to 5%. The aqueous extract is free from essential oils and therefore free from declarable fragrance allergens. Eyebright Extract is used in formulations for the eye area, for example in eye creams, eye pads, cooling gels and soothing care products. All carrier variants are suitable for cosmetic applications.
Use in food
The glycerin variant is intended for use in food. The ingredient declaration under food law is based on the carrier glycerin (with water).
