FAQ
FAQ
Please read our FAQ.
Fennel Extract (INCI: Foeniculum Vulgare (Fennel) Fruit Extract, CAS 84625-39-8) is an aqueous extract obtained from the fruits of fennel (Foeniculum vulgare). It contains flavonoids, polysaccharides and phenolic acids. These water-soluble compounds shape the soothing and antioxidant profile of the raw material. Because extraction takes place in water, the extract is free from essential oils and therefore free from declarable fragrance allergens.
Production
CONIUNCTA produces Fennel Extract in Germany (made in Germany). It is obtained using AVE technology (Adaptive Vacuum Extraction). Three carrier options are available: glycerin, propylene glycol or pentylene glycol, each combined with water. The extract content is approx. 30% regardless of the variant. 1 kg of extract contains the extracted constituents of approx. 35 g of dried or approx. 220 g of fresh plant material. The raw material is sourced from Europe and the rest of the world, with certified organic material preferred.

Use in cosmetics
The use level is 2-5%. Fennel Extract is used in soothing skin care and in eye care. Typical formulations include eye creams, baby care and body lotions. All three carrier variants are suitable for cosmetic applications. Thanks to its good water solubility, the extract can be incorporated directly into the water phase.
Use in food
The glycerin-based variant is intended for food applications. In the food sector, fennel is established as a vegetable, spice and tea; its regulatory status is food (tea, spice). For labelling, the carrier is listed as an ingredient, which is glycerin for the food-grade variant.
Frequently asked questions
Which carrier variants of Fennel Extract are available?
Three variants: glycerin, propylene glycol or pentylene glycol, each combined with water. All variants are suitable for cosmetics; the glycerin-based variant is suitable for food. A separate technical data sheet is available for each variant.
Is Fennel Extract water soluble?
Yes. The extract dissolves readily in water and is therefore suitable for the water phase of cosmetic formulations.
Is Fennel Extract vegan?
Yes, the extract is vegan. As a plant-based raw material it contains no ingredients of animal origin.
Which documents are available?
Technical data sheets (TDS) for all three carrier variants and the safety data sheet (SDS) are available for download on the product page. Certificates of analysis (CoA) for each batch are available after login.
What is the shelf life of Fennel Extract?
24 months when stored dry between 10 and 30 °C in the original sealed container. The colour may change during storage depending on temperature. If turbidity or precipitation occurs, simple filtration is sufficient; the quality remains unaffected.
