FAQ
FAQ
Please read our FAQ.
Goat's Rue Extract (INCI: Galega Officinalis Extract) is an aqueous plant extract from goat's rue (Galega officinalis). It contains guanidine derivatives with the lead marker galegine, along with flavonoids and saponins. CONIUNCTA supplies the raw material as a glycol-based liquid extract for cosmetic formulations.
Production
The extract is obtained by Adaptive Vacuum Extraction (AVE) and produced in Germany (Made in Germany). The extract content is around 30 percent regardless of the variant. Available carriers are glycerin, propylene glycol or pentylene glycol, each on an aqueous base. The extract is free from essential oils and therefore free from fragrance allergens subject to declaration.
Specification
- INCI: Galega Officinalis Extract
- Appearance: clear liquid, sometimes slight turbidity
- Color: amber to light brown
- Solubility: good in water
- Carrier and preservation: glycol-based (glycerin, propylene glycol or pentylene glycol)
- Origin: Europe and rest of the world, organically grown material preferred
- Vegan: yes
- Production: Made in Germany
- Shelf life: 24 months, stored dry at 10 to 30 °C in the originally sealed container
Use in cosmetics
The recommended use concentration is 2 to 5 percent. The raw material is associated with balancing, conditioning and moisturizing properties. Because the extract is highly water soluble, it is easy to incorporate into the aqueous phase. Typical formulations are facial care and body lotions. As no essential oils are present, the raw material is also suitable for formulations with a reduced allergen profile.
Frequently asked questions
Is Goat's Rue Extract water soluble?
Yes. It is a glycol-based aqueous extract that is readily soluble in water and is incorporated into the aqueous phase.
Which carrier variants are available?
Galega Officinalis Extract is available with glycerin, propylene glycol or pentylene glycol as the carrier. The extract content is around 30 percent for all variants.
At what concentration is Galega Officinalis Extract used?
The recommended use concentration is 2 to 5 percent, depending on the formulation and the desired effect.
What is the connection between Galega officinalis and metformin?
The guanidine derivative galegine from Galega officinalis was historically the starting point of the research from which the active ingredient metformin later emerged. This raw material is intended exclusively for cosmetic formulations and carries no functional or health-related claims.
What documentation is available?
A technical data sheet (TDS) for each carrier variant, a safety data sheet (SDS) and a certificate of analysis are available after login. B2B terms on request.
