Hop powder extract - prenylflavonoid-containing brewing raw material (CAS: 8060-28-4)
INCI: Humulus Lupulus Extract. The hop powder extract (Humulus lupulus) contains humulone, lupulone, 8-prenylnaringenin, characteristic prenylflavonoids (xanthohumol), bitter acids and essential oils. This phytoprofile qualifies hops beyond the brewing industry for cosmetics and food supplements.
Use in the cosmetics industry
Cosmetic applications of hop powder extract focus on soothing hair care, scalp treatments and anti-aging concepts with phytoestrogen components. The antimicrobial properties support problem skin formulations. Integration in aqueous phases; the characteristic hop odor must be taken into account.
Application in the food industry
The food sector is dominated by brewing applications; hops powder extract is also used for sleep-promoting teas and relaxing food supplements. The combination with valerian and lemon balm is traditionally documented. The bitterness influences recipe developments. Regulatory status: food (beer), food supplement (sleep).
