Ivy Extract (INCI: Hedera Helix (Ivy) Leaf Extract, CAS 84082-54-2) is an aqueous plant extract obtained from the leaves of ivy (Hedera helix). Its characterising lead marker is the triterpene saponin hederacoside C. The extract is free of essential oils and therefore free of fragrance allergens subject to declaration.
Production
CONIUNCTA Ivy Extract is produced using Adaptive Vacuum Extraction (AVE) and is Made in Germany. The extract is available in three carrier variants: with glycerin, with propylene glycol or with pentylene glycol. The extract content is around 30 percent. One kilogram of extract contains the hydrophilic constituents of roughly 35 g of dried or around 220 g of fresh plant material. Preservation is glycol based.

Use in cosmetics
Ivy Extract is intended exclusively for the cosmetics industry, and all variants are suitable for cosmetic use. The recommended use concentration is 2 to 5 percent. The raw material is used in body care formulations, for example in firming gels, body creams and anti-cellulite products. Because the extract is readily water soluble, it can be incorporated into aqueous systems without difficulty. The choice of carrier depends on the formulation system: glycerin for glycerin based formulations, propylene glycol or pentylene glycol as alternatives.
