FAQ
FAQ

Malachite Extract (INCI: Malachite Extract, CAS 12069-69-1) is a mineral-based raw material derived from malachite, the green copper carbonate mineral. Copper carbonate (Cu₂CO₃(OH)₂) is qualitatively verified as the lead marker. CONIUNCTA supplies the extract as a clear, readily water-soluble liquid in three carrier variants for the cosmetics and food industries.
Production
The extract is produced by CONIUNCTA in Germany (Made in Germany) and obtained with the in-house AVE technology (Adaptive Vacuum Extraction). Three carrier variants are available: Glycerin (anhydrous, glycerin ≥ 99.5%), Propylene Glycol (approx. 40% water, approx. 30% extract, approx. 30% propylene glycol) and Pentylene Glycol (approx. 50% water, approx. 30% extract, approx. 20% pentylene glycol). Regardless of the variant, the extract content is approx. 30%.
Specification
- INCI: Malachite Extract
- CAS number: 12069-69-1
- Appearance: clear liquid, slight turbidity possible
- Color: amber to light brown
- Solubility: readily soluble in water
- Density: 1.03 to 1.06
- pH value: 3.9 to 7.2

- Classification: not a hazardous substance under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, REACH compliant, storage class 12
Use in cosmetics
The recommended use concentration is 2 to 5%. All three carrier variants are suitable for cosmetic applications and designed for water-based systems. Typical formulations include detox masks, anti-pollution serums and mineralizing facial care. The extract is free from essential oils and therefore free from declarable fragrance allergens. The manufacturer data sheet (CDS) documents the claims Balancing, Elasticity support and Detoxifying. The specific claim in the finished product is governed by the Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.
Use in food
For the food sector, the Glycerin variant is declared as suitable. The ingredient declaration is glycerin. No specific use concentration is defined for food, the dosage depends on the respective recipe.
Frequently asked questions
What is Malachite Extract?
Malachite Extract is a raw material based on the green copper carbonate mineral. The qualitatively verified marker is copper carbonate. The extract is a clear, amber to light brown liquid.
Which carrier variant suits which application?
The Glycerin variant is anhydrous and the only one declared for the food sector. The variants with propylene glycol and pentylene glycol contain water and are intended for cosmetic formulations. The extract content of all variants is approx. 30%.
Is Malachite Extract water-soluble?
Yes. The extract is readily soluble in water and suitable for water-based formulations such as serums, masks and facial care.
What is the shelf life of Malachite Extract?
Stored dry between 10 and 30 °C in the originally sealed container, the shelf life is 24 months. The color may change during storage. If turbidity or precipitation occurs, filtration is sufficient. The quality remains unaffected.
Which documents are available?
A separate TDS is available for each carrier variant, plus the SDS covering all three variants. Batch-specific values such as pH, density and refractive index are stated in the CoA. All documents are available after login.
