Peppermint Extract (INCI: Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Extract, CAS 84082-70-2) is an aqueous liquid extract from the leaves of peppermint (Mentha piperita). Its primary marker is rosmarinic acid, accompanied by flavonoids and tannins. These water-soluble polyphenols shape the antioxidant profile of this raw material for the cosmetics and food industries.
Production
CONIUNCTA produces the peppermint extract in Germany (Made in Germany) using AVE technology (Adaptive Vacuum Extraction). Glycerin, propylene glycol or pentylene glycol are available as carriers. The extract content is approx. 30% regardless of the variant. 1 kg of extract contains the hydrophilic constituents of approx. 30 g of dried plant material. Fragrance allergens listed in Annex III of Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 (menthol) must be labeled above the use concentrations stated in the CDS.

The rosmarinic acid it contains adds antioxidant properties to the formulation.
Use in food
The glycerin carrier variant is intended for food applications. Peppermint is well established in the food sector as a tea and flavoring, and its use in confectionery and beverages is documented worldwide.
