FAQ

Rosehip extract (INCI: Rosa Canina Fruit Extract, CAS 84696-47-9) is a water-soluble liquid extract obtained from the fruits of the dog rose (Rosa canina). Its characteristic key marker is ascorbic acid (vitamin C). The raw material is used as Rosa Canina Fruit Extract in water-based cosmetic and food applications.
Production
The extract is produced with the Adaptive Vacuum Extraction (AVE) developed by CONIUNCTA. It is available in three carrier variants: glycerin, propylene glycol and pentylene glycol. The extract content is around 30% regardless of the variant. One kilogram of extract contains the hydrophilic constituents of about 35 g of dried or about 220 g of fresh plant material. Production takes place in Germany (Made in Germany).

Use in cosmetics
The recommended use concentration is 2 to 5%. All carrier variants are suitable for cosmetic formulations. Typical formulation types include anti-ageing serums, face creams and body lotions. The aqueous extract is free from essential oils and therefore free from declarable fragrance allergens. The inherent amber to light brown colour should be taken into account during formulation.
Use in food
The glycerin variant is intended for food applications. The water-soluble extract can be incorporated into liquid preparations. The technical suitability for the specific application must be verified by the user.
