Glycol base

Glycol-based plant extracts are liquid botanical extracts that use a glycol as the carrier. They are stable, readily water-soluble and can be incorporated directly into aqueous cosmetic systems such as toners, serums and gels. The category comprises 189 products: from well-known raw materials such as bakuchiol, licorice root and green coffee, through an extensive orchid series with Dendrobium, Phalaenopsis and Cymbidium, to mushroom extracts such as reishi, chaga and shiitake. They are joined by the CONIUNCTA® PRO specialties, including saffron, truffle, caviar and white tea.

Propylene glycol and pentylene glycol are available as carrier variants. Carriers keep the plant extract in solution and make dosing in the finished formulation easier. Both glycols also have preservative properties and thus contribute to the microbiological stability of the extracts. Whether an extract is based on propylene glycol or pentylene glycol is stated in the respective product specification.
