FAQ
FAQ
Please read our FAQ.
Nettle Extract (INCI: Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Extract) is a botanical liquid extract from Urtica dioica (CAS 84012-40-8). Chlorogenic acid serves as the analytical lead marker, with an indicative content of 122 to 630 µg/mL in the product. The extract is water-soluble and available in three carrier variants.
Production
The extract is obtained using CONIUNCTA's Adaptive Vacuum Extraction (AVE) and manufactured in Germany (Made in Germany). Purified water serves as the extraction solvent. Regardless of the carrier variant, the extract content is around 30 %. 1 kg of extract contains the hydrophilic constituents of roughly 35 g of dried or about 220 g of fresh plant material. The available carrier systems are Glycerin, Propylene Glycol and Pentylene Glycol.

Cosmetic use
The general use concentration is 2 to 5 %; for cosmetic formulations the data sheet states a range of 1 to 3 %. The aqueous extract is free from essential oils and therefore free from declarable fragrance allergens. Documented properties include an antioxidant profile as well as moisturising, conditioning and balancing characteristics. Typical fields of use are hair care, scalp products and conditioning skin formulations. All three carrier variants are suitable for cosmetic use.
Food use
The Glycerin variant is intended for food applications. For functional food and beverages the data sheet states a use concentration of 0.5 to 2 %.
Frequently asked questions
Is Nettle Extract water-soluble?
Yes. The extract is readily water-soluble and available in the carrier systems Glycerin, Propylene Glycol or Pentylene Glycol.
Which carrier variant should I choose?
All three variants are suitable for cosmetic formulations. The Glycerin variant is intended for food applications. The choice depends on the respective formulation system.
How high is the silica content in the extract?
CONIUNCTA reports chlorogenic acid as the analytical lead marker at 122 to 630 µg/mL. A separate silica value is not specified. You will find the full analytical profile in the TDS and in the certificate of analysis (CoA) after login.
What is Nettle Extract used for in skincare?
The raw material is used in moisturising and conditioning formulations as well as in hair and scalp products. An antioxidant profile is documented.
Which documentation is available?
A technical data sheet (TDS) is available for each carrier variant, together with a shared safety data sheet (SDS). The certificate of analysis and B2B terms are provided after login.
Primary Marker: Chlorogenic acid
